AFITE/Una Europa conference: ‘A Three-dimensional Initiative on Academic Freedom’

 


The keynote speech will be delivered by Peter Maassen, Professor in Higher Education Studies at the Faculty of Education, University of Oslo.

The discussion panel will bring together leading experts and policy actors to reflect on the evolving landscape of academic freedom in Europe. Confirmed speakers include Professor Janneke Gerards (State Councilor at the Advisory Division of the Council of State, Netherlands; Utrecht University), Professor Koen Lemmens (Leuven University; co-author of the LERU paper Challenges to Academic Freedom as a Fundamental Right), Dr Monika Steinel (Deputy Secretary General, European University Association), and Professor André Nollkaemper (Chair of the KNAW Committee on the Freedom of Scientific Pursuit). The discussion will be moderated by Professor Tarlach McGonagle (Leiden University; University of Amsterdam).

The keynote speech and the panel discussion will be held in the Telders Auditorium in the Academy Building (Rapenburg 73, Leiden). The lunch will be served in the Faculty Club of the Academy Building.
